From the Mansion we went back to
the city proper and headed to the terminal to LA TRINIDAD, BENGUET to get our
share of the Strawberry picking experience. We were caught in the traffic jam as
there was a parade being held in celebration of the Chinese New year. So we had to hike to
Baguio Cathedral had a church visit and then head to Center Point Mall where the jeeps were
parked. (see link)
A quick visit to Baguio Cathedral |
Upon reaching La Trinidad we
had to hike for another 100 meters to get to the farm itself. It was huge, 6
hectares of land planted with strawberries and vegetables, owned by Benguet
State University.
If you just buy the strawberries you can get it for 250.00 a kilo, but if you want to pick it up yourself you will pay 100 extra for this experience. |
We went ahead and go for the experience, we were not able to fill our basket as some went straight to our mouths. |
ah don’t get us wrong it was with the approval of our guide. Our guide
continued the picking and chose those “good for travel” strawberries since we
still had couple more days before going home.
After the strawberry picking experience we head back to Baguio and it was already getting late, by the time we get to the city,
it was already rush hour. It took a long
hike before we could get a taxi, we decided to take the taxi as we were already
tired to hike, destination? Lourdes Grotto (see link). When we get there, we had to walk to
the grotto and it was already dark, good thing it was the Blessed Virgin’s
feast so the stairs were lighted with candles.
We have wanted to cheat and do away with the hiking thing in Lourdes Grotto but we still found ourselves walking the way down. |
I realize that we haven’t had anything other than the
cheese bread and strawberry-lemonade we had at the Good shepherd Convent, I
suddenly felt the hunger rush. We decided to go back to the Inn as
our stuff are getting heavy with all the strawberry jam, peanut brittle, etc
that we bought. And had dinner there.
Shortly, after dinner my friend fell asleep, so
I thought we would already call it a day! But she woke me up around 10pm to go
to our last itinerary – BURNHAM PARK! Why not? After all A baguio trip will
never be complete without Burnham park!
We took a taxi since it was already late at night and went walking around burnham, it was relatively safe even that late, a lot of people were still walking round the park group of barkada, lovers, family. The lights made the park even more beautiful. Then we went back to the Ukay ukay, my friend had her final shopping!
Burnham Park at Night |
We have wanted to leave early the next day but because we went home rather late and let me say this again, Man! How can you wake up so early with a weather like that!!! We left past 8am for our final destination – ANAWANGIN.
